As founder, chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Team Rohan Elite (TRE), Michael J Rohan oversees the Company's many components: finance, student and player development, partnerships and operations. In addition to his role as chairman and CEO, Mr. Rohan is also a head coach, advisor and trainer. His primary focus is to help prepare young student-athletes with recognizing, developing and applying the connection among the five A’s: Academics – Attitude – Accountability – Athletics--Achievement. “I'm a student-focused individual with a proven track record for motivating youth to achieve goals, while also promoting a winning plan for school".
Prior to assuming his present post at Team Rohan Elite, Mr. Rohan was Chief Executive Officer of Nothing But Nets AAU Basketball. There he played a major role in building the brand from inception into one of the top programs in northern New Jersey. Within his 10 years coaching AAU and travel teams, Mr. Rohan has led his teams to winning (3) three Central New Jersey Championships, several Nike AAU Championships, A-Game Championship, Boo Williams Invitational Championship, Hoops in the Sun Championship, while gaining national attention competing at elite levels. He has also coached or mentored players who went on to play in college. Mr. Rohan was also an Assistant Basketball Coach for CUNY Kingsborough Community College.
As a child, Michael grew up playing all sports but acquired a love for basketball because of Jim Couch's Dyckman program. Michael attended John F. Kennedy High school in Bronx, NY where he played under Coach Earl Meyers. While at JFK, Michael starred on the legendary AAU teams at the time, Riverside Church and Madison Broncos. Mr. Rohan was selected by the great Tom Konchalski to compete in the Daily News City Game, Nike Blue Chip top 50, an accomplishment to say the least. Mr. Rohan was recruited by top colleges coming out of high school (East Carolina Univ., Rutgers Univ., Florida State, and West Virginia State). He attended Kingsborough Community College and St. John's University.
In addition to his athletic background, Mr. Rohan has a wide range of business experience. Mr. Rohan was a recording artist signed to Uptown Records with label mates (Heavy D & the Boyz, Jeff Redd and Mary J Blige). Mr. Rohan has had the pleasure of working with Sean P Diddy Combs and Mary J. Blige both through external business relationships and as a dancer. After Uptown Records, Mr. Rohan went to RCA Records where he worked in Promotions and Marketing. In 1995, Mr. Rohan turned another page in his book of experiences and went to Def Jam Records to serve as Vice President of A&R until 1999-2000. While at Def Jam, Mr. Rohan worked with artists such as DMX, LL Cool J, Foxy Brown while discovering acts like Tanya Blount (Sister Act Two) and critically-acclaimed artist Alicia Keys. Along the way, Mr. Rohan met and partnered with Danny Wood of New Kids on the Block (Current CFO of TRE). In 2000, Mr. Rohan entered the financial industry working for one of the oldest brokerage firms on Wall Street as a temporary employee working his way up the ladder to become an Associate Vice President with the firm.
A man of varied interests who will not rest on yesterday’s achievements – Mr. Rohan is a dedicated businessman and family man - sharing a vivid enthusiasm for both. Currently, Mr. Rohan works at The New York City Department of Homeless Service as Supervisor and Community Coordinator. Proving that he believes giving back and helping those in need is a civic responsibility.
